What I've detected from dealers is surprising honesty recently. I think there may be an interesting aspect at this level of equipment though. Has anybody any thoughts on my ramblings above?Ĭlick to expand. As stated I loved my Ayre equipment-there were parallels between what the UK dealer said to me and the reasonably recent AX-5 review in Hi-Fi News-in both cases as much as they were saying positive things they weren't defining the strengths very well nor indeed seemed really excited about the amp. On the other hand I could just get a Classé CP-800 and and CA-2300 for a little more money admittedly I did consider separate Plinius pre and power amplifiers for a while but I have no dealer here in Ireland. I have read glowing reports everywhere on the French Devialet amplifiers and a friend used a Euro 9K Special Anniversary Edition of the Lavardin IT which gives him seriously good sound. The Ayre AX-5 is attractive because it has 4 sets of XLR inputs and outputs and has been well reviewed all over, it seems. I have got this notion that I seriously want to reduce the number of 'boxes' I have around my place and I wonder if an integrated is the answer? Would I suffer a diminution in the sound quality I have with the Classé 350/CP-65 by opting for one of the integrated amplifiers I have mentioned? At the moment I am running a pair of Classé CAM-350s and a Classé CP-65 Line Level Pre-Amplifier with the Ayre P5xe Phono Pre-Amplifier. CCAT-prime is also a potential telescope platform for the future CMB Stage-IV observations.I have been think of changing my amplification lately and have started to think about using an integrated amplifier. Prime-Cam is currently being developed, and the CCAT-prime telescope is designed and under construction by Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH to achieve first light in 2021.

The full instrument will consist of 60,000 polarimetric KIDs at a combination of 220/280/350/410 GHz, 12,000 TES bolometers at 250/350 GHz coupled with FPIs, and 21,000 polarimetric KIDs at 850 GHz. Prime-Cam will be commissioned with staged deployments to populate the seven instrument modules. Each instrument module, optimized for a specific science goal, will use state-of-the-art multichroic transition edge sensor (TES) or kinetic inductance detector (KID) arrays operated at ∼100 mK, and Fabry-Perot interferometers (FPI) for the EoR science.

Prime-Cam consists of a 1.8 m diameter cryostat that can house seven individual instrument modules. Sensitivity of the Prime-Cam Instrument on CCAT-prime. With resources in nanofabrication, engineering, superconducting device design, testing and integration, and faculty, postdocs and students active in astrophysics, cosmology, instrumentation design and deployment, Cornell is an ideal institution to lead the CCAT-prime and Prime-Cam efforts.ĬCAT-prime and Prime-Cam will rely on developments at the cutting edge of superconducting detector and optical techniques, which will advance the fields of cosmology and astrophysics, and contribute to the next generation of CMB telescopes and cameras so researchers can continue to untangle the mysteries still at large in particle physics and cosmology. The particle astrophysics group is engaged in sub-millimeter measurements and analysis of the cosmic microwave background as well as detector development at the cutting edge of superconducting and optical techniques, and it is these efforts that are pushing Prime-Cam to the forefront of cosmology and astrophysics.Ĭornell is leading the CCAT telescope project consortium, and the team has decades of experience designing, building and deploying instrumentation for astronomical observations. While CCAT-prime may not be buried 40' below ground, it is still an essential part of CLASSE research as part of the laboratory's particle physics and astrophysics effort.
